WONDERLAND IN TAROTINTRODUCTION Tarot in Wonderland was created in the space where tarot and the Alice stories, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll (teh pen name of Charles Dodgson), meet. In this liminal place, sometimes we see familiar scenes from these well-known stories and sometimes the beloved characters have stumbled into a new world. The images remain true to the Rider-Waite-Smith cards and, as such, will feel familiar to many readers. Blending the traditional images with another well-loved work of art, the Alice Stories, gives the cards a fresh feel. They are recognizable yet very different, creating a dreamlike sensation. AUTHOR: BARBARA MOORE ARTIST: EUGENE SMITH I have always been a fan of Alice in Wonderland ever since I was a little kid. Most of the people close to me know that I love artworks that have a colorful, vibrant, and dreamy vibe. The first time that I saw this deck was when my fellow tarot reader-friend pulled some cards for me using this deck, needless to say, I was immediately sold! The next week, I saw this deck being sold in Fullybooked's Shopee account and in less than a week, I received it! So for today, I will be featuring this deck in my blog so you guys may know if the illustration of the cards resonate with you as well! DECK INTERVIEW SPREAD Each time I get my hands on a new tarot or oracle deck, I do a specific "Deck Interview Spread" so I could get to know its energy more: the "personality", strengths, limitations, element, how can I collaborate with it and what would it need from me. To get clearer answers, I pull out some "clarification cards" just in case. DECK INTERVIEW SPREAD ANSWERS (based on the book's definition) Personality - Ace of Swords Swords represent the airy energy of our intellect, logic, and reason. This suit is associated with communication, problem-solving, and the nature of truth. Strengths - Judgment Judgment marks an invitation to hear a higher voice, perhaps your preferred deity or your own Higher Self, and follow its call. If you are on the brink of thinking about leaving some parts of you - behaviors and beliefs - behind, use this! Limitations - The Star The Star reminds us that it is time to dip back into the pool that nourishes our hearts and sous, that cleanses our minds, that points our wills towards our own true north Element - The Lovers The Lovers suggest the presence of a love interest but also invite reflection on the nature of love and how it guides our choices. How can I collaborate with it? - The Tower The tower is a situation, belief, or guiding value upon which we've built n impressive edifice: our very lives. Transformation is messy. When things change, there will be destruction. SOmetimes we are the instigators of change even though it is scary and hard. What does this deck what from me? - 8 of Wands This card lets you know that things will move much faster than anticipated. It also suggests that although there is a potential for chaos, that chaos never manifests. Instead, things always reach their logical conclusions, abeit with more speed than anyone might have anticipated. MY THOUGHTS? This deck may seem colorful, playful and all that but upon studying the symbolisms and illustration within, it has more depth than how it "appears" at first glance. Direct, blunt and logical. Whenever I use this deck, the answers are always on point, it feels like as if each card already tell a whole lot of story by in itself alone. What I like about this deck is its bluntness. Sometimes it feels like as if it is slapping you on the face, but that is just "the truth" based on the querent's energy that the deck is picking up at the time. I think of the energy of this deck as akin to that of a strict professor who want you to succeed but won't coddle you when you get hurt... if you know what I mean. If you have a goal in mind such as how can you achieve your dreams, this deck can show what you need to do and what you gotta stop doing, this is not going to baby you and tell you that you are doing things correctly when you are not. I like using this deck for inner child work (since the symbols and the colors are vibrant and very animated), and of course, for tough love kinda love readings. Usually, the people who come to me for love readings are those who are experiencing some problems with their lovers. Using this deck gives me more clarity about what is going on that they may not really be aware of. The deck could be blunt, but I can soften the blow by sending the message in a more compassionate way. Hehe!
