This is how the herbal pad looks like. Originally, the pillow pad with the green covering is where the herbs and essential oils blend were packed. Remember, this should NOT get wet! Do NOT wash this pillow! 

To avoid it from get dirty, they provided a black covering that you can use so the pad inside will be at its best shape and condition. And yes, the black cover is safe to wash.
