Himalayan salt lamps have been gaining popularity these past few years and I was one of the many people who went along with the "trend" for I want to personally experience the benefits that it can offer to us. But the question that most people ask is, "Is buying a himalayan salt lamp worthy and is it really nice and effective?" Read on for I will answer that in a simple and practical way. No exaggeration and hard selling included. Hehe! "Salt is hygroscopic, so the lamps attract water molecules from the air; this means the lamps trap dirt, pollen, and smoke particles which are carried in water vapor. Once these airborne contaminants have been locked in the salt, clean water is re-released and thus it has a purifying effect on the air. Theoretically that is. Scientists know that salt does absorb water from the air but that it quickly reaches an equilibrium state (it doesn’t take up anymore water because it is saturated). This is the same for silica packets. Both can be revitalized by drying, which a burning and warming lamp does. So there is merit to this claim. What’s more is that the heat from the bulb inside that warms up the lamp releases negative ions. And there are the health-boosting effects of salt itself too." -www.criticalcactus.com As I have been researching before purchasing, I find that this is the best and simplest explanation that I needed to push me with my decision of getting a himalayan salt lamp. I bought my 5-6kg raw shaped himalayan salt lamp from Healing Crystals and Gemstones Makati for Php 1,800 plus Php200 shipping fee via Grab Express. What I like about using this is that it offers an adjustable dim warm orange light that looks relaxing and soothing on the eyes. Blue light from cellphones, TV's and gadgets, and fluorescent and/or bulb light could be painful to look at directly especially if you have photosensitivity eye issues like mine but staring at a himalayan salt lamp feels good. The downside with himalayan salt lamps is that, they kind of "melt" slooooowly through time. I have noticed that there were salt crystals falling around it whenever I wipe the table wherein the salt lamp was put on. They won't melt fast though so no worries and I think that it might take several years or a decade before my 5-6 kg himalayan salt lamp melt off completely. It happens because of the humidity, the moisture from the air affects the himalayan salt causing it to melt. Remember, do NOT wet your salt lamps for it will make them melt faster! The benefits of using a himalayan salt lamp are many but what I have noticed are these: Improves your mood, reduces stress? Check! Looking at the salt lamp is soothing not just for the eyes but it also has a calming energy that affects the whole vibe, y'know. Improves sleeping? Check! if you're afraid of the dark but bothered with a fully lit room, then the dim pinkish-orange lighting of himalayan salt lamps are perfect: not too dark and not too bright, just right! Increases blood flow, energy levels, and boosts serotonin level? Hmmm... I can't tell but I think it's more of like, if you've got a good night sleep, it helps well with good blood circulation, and if you are well-rested then you will feel happier, more productive, and healthier, am I right? Hehe... Improves breathing and reduces asthma symptoms? Hmmm, the air might be purified better than without this salt lamp BUT of course, you have to make sure that your room is regularly cleaned and not collecting weeks of dirt and dust to avoid getting colds and allergic rhinitis. You can't just rely on himalayan salt lamps to do the job, you gotta do something about it too! I don't have asthma so I can't comment on whether it helps with that kind of problem or not... A few weeks ago, my friend Riz Macahis gifted me a Himalayan Exfoliant Salt Soap and Himalayan Salt Natural Therapy Nasal Inhalers. I heard she is reselling these too so price is available upon request. Himalayan Crystal Salt Soaps are not like the common soaps that you use for bathing everyday. They do not lather with bubbles and all that stuff and they don't clean the skin the same way common soaps do BUT rubbing your skin with himalayan crystal salt bars can gently scrub off dirt, dust, and a bit of dead epidermal skin cells. If you wanna feel extra clean without exfoliating your skin the way body scrubs do, this is nice and safe to use. Also remember, do NOT leave this on wet surface for a salt soap, or any salt-based stuff for that matter, will melt on water! I find it best to use after cleansing your skin with your favorite bathing soap or body wash to make sure that any residue will be removed. Last April until the 2nd week of May, I had been suffering with colds. No matter what I did, they just won't stop, it's soooo annoying! When this was gifted to me, I immediately used it. After a few days, my situation has improved. Warning, it might be gross but the mucus kinda softened and became thinner in consistency making it easier to blow them out of my nose without the sinus pain that I used to experience whenever I did that. Since I've got 5 of these nasal inhalers, I compared them to each other and I have noticed that they smelled differently from each other. They all have peppermint essential oil in them alright, but some have a stronger scent while the other had little to no scent at all. However, I was given an assurance that it is alright since the healing benefits come from the himalayan salt themselves and are not reliant on the essential oil within. After a week, I got another 2 pieces of Himalayan Salt Natural Therapy Nasal Inhalers from Emilie, the seller behind the online store @fengshuicharms in Instagram and Shopee PH app. The scent of these two were more faint compared to the ones that I got from Ate Riz but the effects were the same on me. Both were able to help with reducing sinusitis pain and healing my colds. Whenever my allergic rhinitis, migraine, or cluster headaches attack, I just inhale this and it instantly gives me relief, after several minutes, the ain will subside and I'll be okay. As for having "sipon" once I feel like I'm starting to get it again, I just use a himalayan salt nasal inhaler and then after half a day, mawawala na sila! Effective, yes! These nasal inhalers contain himalayan salt rocks inside along with drops of peppermint essential oil. However, in some inhalers, the scent of the peppermint fades faster than the others BUT it doesn't mean that its effectiveness will be affected. As a matter of fact, the health benefits will remain just the same because the healing lies in the himalayan salt themselves. By the way, this is not the nasal inhaler that is recommended for kids and infants so don't use this on them! Emilie said that they will be launching a product soon that is safe for kiddos anyway so yeeeey! One of the best things that you can give to yourself is a himalayan salt bath! Yep, you read that right! Aside from exfoliating dead epidermal skin cells thoroughly to make your skin feel smoother and softer, and appear brighter, using salts in your bath can take away unnecessary stress and negative energies leaving you with a lighter feeling! Did you know that during the old times, salt were considered really precious that soldiers were getting salt as salary? The men of old knew that aside from that fact that salt are healthy (and yummy) when mixed with food, they are also used in rituals for beautification, prosperity, and expelling bad spirits! Wooohhh! This Himalayan Salt Scrub from @fengshuicharms is locally handmade with natural ingredients such as lavender, chamomile, calendula in sunflower oil, jojoba, and virgin coconut oil. I have been using this once a week for a few weeks now and I must say that this is effective. The himalayan salts removed dead skin cells gently while the oils infused in here moisturized the skin. Exfoliating your skin is a must if you want your skin to look glowing. Failing to do so makes your skin rough to the touch and dull to look at, you wouldn't want that! As for using salt scrubs, remember to rub them lightly onto the skin to avoid overexfoliation, irritation, and scratches. And in ending this blog post, I wanna share with you a secret that I have discovered. For almost a year now, I have been doing this bath ritual whenever I am feeling down, tired, and lethargic. Doing this helps in removing negative energy that is weighing you down, then afterwards, you will feel refreshed not just physically but also psychologically and emotionally! Try it to find out and see what happens! What you need? - 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (or coconut oil will do) - 1 half cup of salt (rock salt, sea salt, epsom salt, himalayan salt will do) What to do? Mix the salt and oil really well. After showering with soap and water, rinse yourself. While your skin is still damp, spread the oil and salt mixture all over your body from your neck down to your feet. Let it stay for 3 mins. Rinse well with water. Observe its effect and it will be like as if a huge load was lifted from your shoulders! That's it, dear readers, you're welcome! 💖 For more Fengshui lucky charms, himalayan salt-based beauty and wellness products and more items, check out Feng Shui Charms at Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fengshuicharms and Shopee PH: www.shopee.com/fengshuicharms For himalayan salt lamps and healing crystals, visit Healing Crystals and Gemstones Makati at their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HealingCrystalsph/ For authentic preloved luxury branded bags and himalayan salt-based wellness products, check out Riz Macahis in Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/carlaine_m/ |
