A few years ago, I saw Colour Collection's ad for the very first time wherein Bea Alonzo, my celebrity idol, was the endorser and since them I have been curious about this brand. By the way, did you know that their new Brand Ambassador now is Megan Young? Yeahhhh! That means that we, the simple citizens of the Philippines can copy the makeup looks of a Certified Beauty Queen without overspending! *clapping my hands at the background!!!* Colour Collection has released their new product this May which is the Colour Collection High Definition Iconic Matte Lipsticks. These lipsticks are specially formulated to give moisture-rich, vibrant, and high definition lips. It has a smooth lip color that glides right on with a silky matte finish that never feels dry. And so with that, today, I'll be sharing with you my first impression after using their makeups from bb cream and powder, to lipsticks, brow and lash mascara! Colour Collection's makeup packaging design is simple, classic, and clean. I am liking the no-fuss appearance that appeals to the adults, the yuppies, and the matured target market. 1) Colour Collection Whitening BB Cream (Php 599) The first product that I used was their BB Cream with skin-whitening benefits and UV protection. The BB Cream was easy to use that even if you're a beginner in using makeup, blending it onto the skin by using your fingers alone is not complicated. The formulation is lightweight and buildable from sheer to medium coverage. The shade of the BB Cream that was sent to me was one shade warmer and darker. I wish I got a lighter one however, it can be fixed by using a pressed powder with a lighter shade. I still have some dark spots and acne scars left drom a previous breakout that I had along the hairline and jaw line. Their appearance was somehow diminished after applying one layer of the BB Cream. A little bit can still be seen but a concealer and pressed powder can cover them anyway. 2) Colour Collection Pressed Powder with Vitamin E (Php 375) The 2nd product that I used was their Pressed Powder with Vitamin E. Luckily, the shade that was sent to me is a perfect match for my skin tone and I was able to correct the warmer shade of the BB Cream applied earlier. It wasn't too warm nor too cool. I have a neutral skin tone which is why finding the right shade is very crucial as I don't wanna end up looking too orange, too pink nor grey. Personally, I like the casing of thie Pressed Powder, it was made of a black durable plastic material that felt a bit heavy. It wasn't flimsy nor too thin, definitely not cheap-looking! In the photo above, I didn't use a concealer to cover my blemishes. Applying the pressed powder over the BB Cream was able to give an added medium coverage which greatly diminished the appearance of the dark spots. However, applying powder gives a matte finish so if you are going for a dewy makeup look, go easy on the powder! Selfie-selfie minus the glamour and heavy makeup, LOL! Here, I only used the bb cream (left) and added the powder (right) plus nothing else. The finish is not that flawless just yet probably because I need to use a concealer to cover all the blemishes completely. If you have clear skin though, I think you can skip the color correcting and concealing part. With BB Cream alone, I can achieve a dewy makeup look with some flaws still showing but with powder, dark spots are covered yet everything looks matte. So to avoid looking flat, using highlighters can bring out that "glow". However, if you have oily skin like mine, we have to set our makeup base with pressed powder to avoid the makeup from melting and sliding off our faces especially with this hot and humid weather! 3) Colour Collection Lipsticks a) Collagen Lipstick line (Php 350 each) b) High Definition Iconic Matte Lipstick line (Php 399 each) I got 2 shades from the Collagen Lipstick line which are Sweet Cocoa (a maroon red) and Indulgence (a neutral true red.) Collagen Lipsticks have a moisturizing satin finish. They apply smoothly on the lips and feels hydrating. Lip lines are not emphasized therefore making the lips look more plump. The color pay-off is decent and is buildable from medium to full coverage. I like that the colors I got are universally flattering for any skin complexion whether fair, light, medium, or dark. Since it has a creamy texture, they are not that long-lasting and stays on for only an hour or two without drinking water and having meals. Retouching is a must to make the color even on the lips again after eating or drinking for they easily transfer upon contact with any objects. The chances of the lipstick bleeding will be lessened by using a lip liner, that way, they will last longer. Another lipstick collection that they got is the High Definition Iconic Matte Lipstick line. True to its name, their finish is matte. However, it is a type of matte that is still a li'l bit creamy therefore it still has a li'l bit of sheen. Therefore, for me it feels more like a semi-matte than flat matte (which is kind of drying). High Definition Iconic Matte Lipsticks are easy to apply for they feel smooth and they are highly-pigmented. The formulation is neither hydrating nor drying and so before using this, I apply a tiny amount of lip balm to prep and moisturize my lips. The color selection that I have here are beautiful and wearable for daily use. Vintage Glam and Beauty Queen are warm-based light pinks that are flattering for fair and light skin like mine. I am not sure how they will look on morenas though because I haven't tried it with tanned skin just yet. The shades It Girl (dark neutral red) and Runway Ready, (dark plum) are perfect for both fair and dark complexions for thata strong, and bold lips vibe! Most matte lipsticks are longer-lasting than any types of lipstick finish for they are not that creamy nor moisturizing, therefore they tend to stay on the lips better. These lipsticks are not totally kissproof nor transferproof, however, they won't completely get removed after drinking and having a light meal (unless you ate greasy and oily food). Personally, I am satisfied with the quality of their two lipstick line for the quality of the products are not compromised and the packaging looks simple and classic. They are affordable as well. 4) Colour Collection All Day Wear Lengthening Waterproof Mascara (Php 399) Before anything else, I used the mascara as is without eyelash curler or eyelash comb (for separating lashes after mascara application. I naturally have thin, fine and short lashes. After using this mascara, I have noticed the obvious difference that it made on my lashes: they looked longer and fuller in an instant! However, the downside is that the mascara could feel clumpy during application with me ending up with spider-looking lashes. On the upside, this problem could be fixed with a clean mascara wand for removing clumps and separating lashes that stick together. The effect is not as dramatic as compared to when putting falsies but it helped emphasize my chinky eyes and making them look bigger. This mascara may be waterproof and stays on for more than 12 hours but it isn't hard to remove them with facial soap and water. 5) Colour Collection All Day Wear Brow Mascara (Php399) Again, for the Brow Mascara, I used the product as is - no spoolie and no other eyebrow makeups like pencil or powder as base so that I can see the effect exactly as for what it is. First, I noticed that the shade of the brow mascara is dark brown bordering to gray. I feel like it is too dark compared to my hair color but it matches the natural color of my brows so alright... The product is highly pigmented so you gotta use this product with a very light hand, like I mean VERY LIGHT HAND! As much as possible, wipe the excess product off before brushing it on your brows to prevent your brows from looking too dark and thick. Using this product alone helped me achieve the messy "bushy brows" look which is the opposite of the well-defined polished brows. Messy eyebrows may be a trend but I prefer a cleaner look so I guess I'll use this brow mascara only as a finishing touch after defining my brows with a brow pencil and filling them with brow powder. It is better to use a clean spoolie afterward to blend them well. This is my face after using Colour Collection BB Cream with added layers and blended with Real Techniques beauty sponge this time for heavier coverage and more even application; Vitamin E Pressed Powder for setting the makeup base, mattifying the face, and correcting and matching the shade of the BB Cream (which is darker and warmer than my natural complexion); High Definition Iconic Matte Lipstick in "It Girl"; All Day Wear Lengthening Mascara (no eyelash curler used); and All Day Wear Brow Mascara blended with spoolie and fixed with angled eyebrow brush this time. p.s. No other cosmetics from another makeup brand was used since I wanted to show the look that I can do with the products that were sent to me by Colour Collection. They may be sponsored but my product reviews in this blog, including all the pros and cons, are honest and based solely on my personal experience and opinion.
