Althea's very own product range is here, and we're starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Set which contains Petal Velvet Powder and 3 variants Petal Velvet Sun Away! As of writing, Petal Velvet Set is currently at 10% off at the price of only Php 621. The Petal Velvet line promises to deliver a velvet-finish, petal-like complexion, with sebum-control! The Petal Velvet Sunaway has damask rose extract that deeply hydra antes and soothes irritations, leaving the skin feeling healthy; Hyaluronic Acid - a humectant that attracts moisture to the skin, preventing dehydration; and Geranium oil that gives the skin a radiant boost and heals acne. The Petal Velvet Powders have Althea seed extract that is rich in antioxidants, protecting the skin from externalities and ensuring it stays nice and hydrated; Polyphenols which keep the skin protected from UV rays; and Saponarin - Repairs damaged cells and restores elasticity to aging skin. This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free! Available in #Pink Lavender, #0 Translucent and #23 Warm Beige. Pink Lavender. Hmmm. This color is an unusual choice for a setting powder. In the past, I have seen colors of blue and pink used in powder but not yet this one. I only see the shade of lavender in color correctors, it is to be used to correct too much yellowness in one's skin so it will look balanced, cooler, and less sallow. I figured, if your skin is too yellowish compared to your neck and the rest of your body, this is a good shade to try on! Althea Petal Velvet Powder is fine and smooth, it doesn't cake on your face and sets the makeup perfectly in place. The finish is sheer and could only lessen the appearance of imperfections in the face. However, it can NOT cover pimples and dark spots, unless you apply with a heavy duty concealer first. The pink lavender variant lessens the yellowness on my face so it looks neutral. If you have a foundation base that happens to look, ćtoo yellow or too yellow-orange-ish for you, this will be perfect! Have you ever had that moment when you were able to evenly apply a foundation base that is your skin's perfect match and a concealer that hides all your skin imperfections away, it looked flawless only to be destroyed from using a setting powder that looks too heavy or unfortunately, the wrong shade? Guess what, you'll no longer have that problem if you use Althea's Petal Velvet Powder in Translucent. Various skintones can benefit from using this because it adapts automatically with whatever complexion you have. Its color is white but upon application on skin, it blends pretty like you applied nothing! It sets the makeup base pretty well without messing with their colors! I honestly prefer using a translucent powder for that very reason. However, some people who are highly acidic has a problem with translucent powders because they tend to oxidize on them giving them a touch of grey over their skin as time goes by. I am not saying that that will happen to everyone who has an acidic skin though since that will depend on one's skin's pH level anyway. I myself have acidic skin but when I use high-quality foundation and concealer (which is Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation in Desert Beige and Naturactor Cover Face in 130 for my skin type), makeup doesn't oxidize on me anymore. To get a perfect bade, it's about choosing and investing on a good primer, foundation, and concealer to set as well! For those who wants a setting powder with a li'l more coverage, Petal Velvet Powder in Warm Beige is good. Although if your skin is lighter than MAC's NC20 and darker than NC35, this shade of powder might be, respectively, too light and too dark on you. My skin tone's perfect match is MAC's NC20 or NC25 when I get more sunlight than I should, and this powder works perfectly fine for me. I use it on days when I don't put on foundation but just bb cream. What I like about these powders is that they are fine, soft, and smooth when applied on the skin. It didn't cause any irritation and allergic reaction on my face which is very important as I tend to breakout if I use the wrong product! Aside from that, they all have a sheer finish which do not affect my foundation and concealer. You know, I hate it when my makeup looks too thick because they make me look older! However with sheer powders setting your makeup, there is a balance between a matte finish and a dewy finish. You won't look oily nor you would look powdery when using them! ---------------------------------------- Now, let's talk about the Petal Velvet Sunaway: KEEP THE SUN AWAY Give your skin the look and feel of soft flower petals with this moisture-filled, velvety sunscreen. Filled with premium Damask rose extracts, Althea's Petal Velvet Sunaway uses advanced micro particle technology to protect the skin from UV rays while giving it a petal-like finish. Petal Velvet Sunaway (55ml, Php480) Shield your skin from the sun's rays and give it some petal protection with Althea's Petal Velvet Sunaway! Ultra lightweight, this invisible sunscreen is formulated with hyaluronic acid and Damask rose extracts, ensuring that your skin stays fresh and hydrated throughout the day without any streakiness or a white cast. It has an SPF of 50+ and PA++++, so your skin'll be kept protected all day. As part of the Petal Velvet line, it also contains micro-powder particles that give you a smooth, petal-like complexion. What I like about this moisturizer is that it is lightweight, translucent, acts as a sunblock but does not leave a white cast, leaves skin feeling fresh and hydrated, and has SPF50+, PA++++ perfect for everyday use! How to use: Apply an even layer onto the skin and allow to absorb into the skin before going out into the sun. I tested it on my arm and at first, it was very watery. When I shook the bottle again, it became a bit thicker. I like applying it little by little and layer by layer. A little bit goes a long way too! On the left photo, I had no makeup on and I didn't put on any other skincare products. It looked dull and a bit dry to be honest. On the right photo, I applied a little bit of Petal Velvet Sunaway on my face. It may not be that noticeable in pictures but my skin's appearance has improved - there was an instant sublte brightening effect on the skin plus it added a bit of glow (check my cheekbone reflecting light subtly). It wasn't able to conceal blemishes because that is not its purpose but it makes a nice canvas before putting on primer and foundation. After putting on Petal Velvet Sunaway moisturizer, I concealed some of my blemishes and dark undereye with correctors and concealer. They applied flawlessly on my skin and my makeup did not cake at all! On days when I don't use makeup, I do the 10 to 12 step skincare regimen, however when going out, I prefer using only a toner, serum, and moisturizer so that they won't affect my makeup. Petal Velvet Sunaway is a wise pick honestly as I get sun protection but won't leave ugly white cast on flash photography! So here I am all glammed up with my hair brushed and fixed! On this photo, I used Petal Velvet Powder in Translucent to set my undereye concealer. Warm Beige was used on my T-zone area: forehead, nose, and chin. Pink Lavender was used to set makeup on my temples, cheeks, and cheekbones.
My makeup lasted for several hours. Retouch wasn't.needed: blotting oil on my t-zone area was enough. Using the Petal Velvet Powders minimized the oiliness on my nose and forehead and yet its coverage is not that thick for it still shows my skin underneath. That way, it didn't make my makeup look cakey and flat, preventing me from looking older! I like it! WANT A DISCOUNT???
