DISCOVERING YOUR INNER SANCTUARY AND ACHIEVING INNER CALM
Meditation is the holistic practice of moving your attention within, finding a place of relaxation and peace, and contacting your inner wisdom. It has a lot of benefits that affect us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
I talked about how being mindful and doing meditation daily, even for just at least 5-10 minutes, can help in grounding and centering one's self so you can face your day in a better physical, mental, and spiritual state. After the talk, I also did a short guided Gassho meditation that they could easily do in the next days to come.
For those who have missed the event, I will be sharing in this blog post some important stuff that I have mentioned during the event. So scroll down and read on! :)
WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Basically, meditation can be done by focusing on our breathing - on our inhales and exhales. Observe how your belly expands as you inhale, and how it contracts as you exhale. In a few seconds of breathing, your mind will shift into an alpha state, which feels like your mind is in a trance. By this time, you may notice that you feel lighter and that your mind becomes more receptive to energies around you.
When you focus on your breathing, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This is the part of your body that knows how to heal itself, and knows how to relax.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO meditate?
Meditation is more than just a spiritual practice, we can also achieve a mind-body connection, whatever happens in the mind can create a direct physical effect on the rest of the body.
Thoughts are more like breaths or the blinks of an eye - they can happen without our awareness but they can also be studied and shifted with awareness.
Everything in this Universe is made of energy, including our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Our brains are like a sponge that absorbs information. Since energy is contagious, some energies from other people and places could penetrate our energetic field.
When we neglect to pay attention to the mind-body connection, we may still find ourselves frustrated even after finishing our life goals. Ignoring the power of the mind can be the primary limiting factor in our health. When your mind is full of mental clutter, it builds up stress and anxiety that, most of the time, we are better off without, which is why we need to maintain a daily practice of releasing those thoughts that no longer serve our highest good.
Through meditation, we can train ourselves to control our emotions and discipline our mind.

HOW TO MEDITATE?
For some people, jogging, working out, painting, drawing, and sculpting, can also be a form of meditation because their minds are in a trance - the thoughts are free-flowing while their body is doing the task.
For visualization meditation, I highly recommend that you are in a comfortable position with your eyes closed. It can be done while sitting down or lying down while your eyes are closed.
Be patient with yourself if at first, you feel uneasy. With practice you will get used to it. I have listed some helpful tips below:
Meditation is quite easy to do with a little bit of practice. It is practical, convenient, and free to do! All that you need is your breath, a comfy space, and a present mind. Meditation can be done anytime, anywhere - you may do it at your most comfortable schedule, in a place that you feel secure and will not be disturbed.
People who have been meditating for quite some time have the advanced ability to meditate even if there are noise in their environment - with training they can control themselves to not be disturbed by external factors.
For starters, I highly recommend incorporating the Gassho Hand Position (illustrated in the photo above) in their meditation practice. It can be done by putting your hands together similar in a praying position.
Your thumbs should be touching your chest, for this is the part of your body that is connected with your Heart Chakra, which acts as the bridge between your Higher Consciousness (mind/ spirit/ soul) with your Physical Body that connects with Mother Earth.
If during meditation, you find yourself sleepy, just have your middle fingers touch so that you will feel grounded again and not fall asleep.
BENEFITS OF MEDITATION
Everybody can do meditation, including the kids who are as young as 7 years old. They can be trained to meditate so that even in an early age, they will be trained on how they can manage their emotions well so they will be empowered.
1) Enhanced Self Awareness
When a person starts the practice of meditation, they may find it hard to concentrate and blank their minds at first. Most of them may feel that something in their body is aching, such as their back, arms, legs, etc. It only means that your body is trying to communicate with you - sending a message on which part of the body is in need of more attention and care.
When a person has enhanced self-awareness, they learn how to respond instead of reacting to every situation that happens to them and in their surroundings. With mindfulness, we no longer let ourselves to be easily consumed by own feelings (i.e. lashing out anger and irritability onto others, self-sabotaging our relationships & friendships, dwelling on self-pity, etc.) 2) Boosts Happiness and Reduces Stress
During meditation, a lot of memories may resurface in your mind: faces of people you have encountered, events that trigger certain emotions, places you have visited, and more. When this happen, be calm, acknowledge those thoughts, say "Hi!" and "Goodbye".
By doing so, you are training yourself to detach and let go of the thoughts that are no longer important in your life. You are making a conscious effort of choosing positivity and getting rid of the negativity. Soon, you will have more gratitude and compassion towards yourself and others, making you happier and in control.
3) Sharpens Your Focus
An untrained mind can easily get distracted but with continuous practice of meditation, you gain more clarity about who you are and it can help you remember things that your logical mind did not notice much earlier.
4) Controlling Addictions
If you set an intention before starting meditation, you are programming your subconscious mind to cooperate with your wishes and goals. If you wish to battle junk food cravings for instance, meditation can help with that because it increases your mindfulness.
Note: if your addiction is serious, it is always best to consult with your physician still. Meditation should not be a substitute in serious medical conditions.
5) Improving your Imagination
Artists, writers, and storytellers can benefit a lot with meditation. It can help when it comes to thinking out of the box because meditation allows you to think of unlimited possibilities, to explore your fantasies, to do astral projection, to revisit good memories, and more!

All About Chakras: Clearing, Cleansing, Balancing, and Healing
Yes, you've read that right! There is a difference between cleansing the chakras, balancing the chakras, and healing the chakras. Just because the chakras are balanced does not mean that they are already healed! When people are doing energy work, it is essential to understand this. For starters, let us explain what chakras are! 😉
What are the Chakras?
The CHAKRA refers to the vortex of energy throughout the body.
The function of the chakras is to spin and draw in this energy to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance. Rudolf Steiner considered the chakra system to be dynamic and evolving.
"They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that should stay “open” and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being." -www.healthline.com

What are the 7 Chakras?
The lower chakras:
Root Chakra - located at the base of the spine; it defines our relationship with Mother Earth. It governs our vitality, stability, security, and basic survival instinct. Do we feel connected with our body or not?
Sacral Chakra - located below the belly button, above the pubic bone. It governs our self-worth, creativity, fertility, sexuality, and pleasure.
Solar Plexus Chakra- located at the upper abdomen. It is our core, where power resides, also related to our self-esteem and self-confidence.
The middle chakra:
Heart Chakra - located at the center of the chest which connects the lower chakras to the upper chakras. It is related with our feelings, emotions, love, joy, and compassion.
The upper chakras:
Throat Chakra - located at the throat, and governs our ears, nose, mouth and throat. It represents how we communicate and what information we choose to share with others (is it educating? or just gossiping?)
Third Eye Chakra aka Brow Chakra- located at the forehead. It represents our mind, intuition, intelligence, and imagination.
Crown Chakra - located at the very top of the head. It represents our awareness, our connection with God/Universe, our life purpose.

Why Do We have to Clear, Cleanse, Balance, and Heal our Chakras?
To make it easier to understand, I will give you guys an example.
Let us say, you were running, you were caught off balance then you suddenly fell hard on the ground. Your knees and legs took the fall so you got wounded and fractured. What will you do then?
First, you will clear all objects around your wound, cleanse the area with soap and water. Second, the doctor will cast your legs so that it will be balanced properly. Third, once it has regained its balance, healing starts. The doctor will give you medicine and will advice some form of therapy and after-care so you will be healthy again.
We all know that complete healing does not happen overnight, it takes time to fully do so, however healing happens faster and in a better way with the assistance of a doctor. That is how it is usually done with physical sickness and injury.
But how about if the problem is energetically? Like when the dis-ease bothers you emotionally, mentally, and spiritually? What to do now?
That is where chakra cleansing, balancing, and healing comes in!

Each person has an energy body like in the photo above.
Before diseases and sickness manifest in the physical reality, the negative energies accumulate in our auric field first. That is why sometimes we feel sick even if our medical records show that we are physically fine.
When we do not practice spiritual hygiene, they will build thicker and thicker until we feel it in our bodies.
When the aura is compromised (has holes, is thinning), the person will experience draining of energy. This can manifest as a sudden energy loss, a sharp change of mood, headache, acute pain, nausea, sudden illness, and more. A person can naturally recover from this in a few days or weeks, however if they are being exposed to the people or environment that are causing all of these negativity, it will be harder for them to recuperate, making their health slowly deteriorate.
How can you repair that problem then?
1) Aura Clearing and Cleansing
photo from www.thechilltimes.com
Aura Clearing and Cleansing is done to remove all programmings such as self limiting beliefs and bad habits attached to a person, and to cleanse away all the energy gunk and slime from other people and the environment they're exposed to.
Simple Tips for Aura Clearing and Cleansing:
a) Bathing with salt water; b) Smudging with sage, bayleaf, and palo santo; c) Light an incense or use essential oils on diffuser for your space; d) Meditation to achieve mind-body connection; e) Using and wearing healing crystals; f) Having an Energy Healing session (ie. Reiki)
2) Chakra Balancing
A person's chakras change from time to time because of what we eat, drink, how we rest and sleep, how we work and move, and other external factors. Our energies fluctuate on daily basis. There are days when we feel more active, then other days we feel lethargic
Balancing chakras that are out of sync will promote healing and alignment with the other chakras. The 7 chakras of the body will all be activated and balanced from the root chakra to the crown chakra so that we will feel lighter and more focused to finish our goals on a daily basis.
A balanced chakra may show alignment, on a physical sense, they will look aligned the way it should. A chakra may be balanced but it does not necessarily mean that it has healed completely yet, which means that their aura can still be thin - and that needs more time and more healing energies to thicken so it will not be easily punctured by outer forces (ill intents, bad vibes, energy vampires, evil eye, hexes, etc)
Which brings us to....
3) Chakra Healing
A healed chakra has a lot of tendencies to expand. Expansion of chakras would equate to having improvements in the person's chakra systems. It is not just about repairing holes in the aura, it is also about strengthening a person's energy field, further empowering them.
A person with a healthy chakra has a strong energetic field that will not be easily penetrated by negative energies from other people and places that they go to. When your chakra is healthy and healed, you will not be easily distracted by low vibrational frequencies, instead you will feel more positive, emitting the frequencies of love, joy, peace, and enlightenment.
It is highly recommended to have our chakras balanced and healed at the same time. Why?
If we will not balance our chakras, the chakras that are still active and are healed will overcompensate for the chakra points that are depleted. When chakras are depleted, most likely, that’s the area that can get sick.
For example, if a person's crown chakra is overactive but his root chakra is blocked, he may become over-spiritual and un-grounded, making it harder for him to be practical in life, he may also feel physically lethargic. Another example, when a person's sacral chakra is overactive with a blocked crown chakra, she could be obsessed in working out but her mind is lacking common sense or life purpose. No judgment intended.
If we aim to balance our chakras and heal it as well, the chakras that are already active, will automatically expand, and the chakras that are under-active and needs healing will be balanced.
What is Reiki and How it Can Help?
What is Reiki?
Reikiis a spiritual healing practice from Japan that passes healing energies from the healer to the healee by the laying-on of hands. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”.
Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.
Will a Reiki Session do Everything said above?
Yes, a Reiki Healing session can do all that: aura clearing & cleansing, and chakra balancing & healing. All of us have inner wounds within that make us feel fear, guilt, shame, and insecurity. These low vibrational frequencies attached in our chakras takes us out of balance. When our chakras are being healed regularly, those inner wounds also heal faster as well.
For the people who are ready to confront their shadows (aka the ugly, negative side of them), inner work and shadow work can help in dealing with their issues.
Having a Reiki Healing session can help in bringing illumination and light into the darkness within us. Energetically, reiki can help in healing one's inner wounds faster so they will be free from whatever it is that is holding them back. Slowly but surely, these negativity will purge out of your body, out of your mind, and eventually out of your life. Remember: total healing do not happen instantly. Some people will feel better in just one session, some people may need to take more time, depending on their situation.
What are the Benefits of Having a Healing Session with a Certified Reiki Healer?
Meditation, breathing and grounding exercises are quite basic and hence doable by everyone. When it comes to chakra healing, especially if you’re working on specific chakras, and if there are issues that cannot be solved by simple cleansing rituals, it is always better to look for a Certified Healer.
A Reiki Master can help in guiding you during:
Chakra Activation, for balancing the inactive chakras and opening the blocked ones; and Chakra Sealing, for putting a protective shield on overactive chakras. Etheric Cord Removal, clearing karmic attachments related to ancestral issues, location issues, toxic relationships, and others, in a safe way.
Chakra Sealing is not about blocking or completely closing one's chakra, it must be done in some cases to protect a person whose chakras tend to get uncontrollably overactive, making them feel drained because their energy is leaking. (for example, overactive third eye chakras for little kids who see ghosts and they are bothered by entities - sealing their third eye chakra temporarily could prevent them from seeing these things - if they wish to. Again, this will be a matter of an individual's personal choice.).
Disclaimer: Reiki sessions are not a substitute for medical diagnosis and treatment, and no medical claims are made regarding these treatments. People with serious conditions should consult their doctor.
